Special Events

2023 marked the 190th year of the founding of the congregation of First Baptist Church, Brantford. The legacy we have inherited from all who have found a Church home at First Baptist since Elder Rees and twenty-six others established the congregation on December 23, 1833 gives us much to celebrate.

In the intervening years, the First Baptist congregation has lived the gospel message in word and deed. Our outreach work in the City of Brantford includes founding and serving the Orphans’ Home, and the All People’s Mission, a ministry dedicated to serving the social and spiritual needs of the immigrant community. More recently, the church was instrumental in the founding of Friendship House. Today our community Food Cupboard helps to meet the needs of the hungry in our city. Our outreach and service programmes are also directed to national and international projects.

We celebrated our 190th anniversary at our worship service on Sunday, October 29, 2023. Guest speaker was Minister Emeritus, the Reverend Fred Demaray, who served from 1988-1997. We also welcomed the Reverend Leanne Friesen, Executive Minister of Canadian Baptists of Ontario and Quebec.
